Modalert, Waklert and other Indian brands

Modalert, Modvigil, Modaheal, Waklert, Artvigil, Armod and Axepta are Indian brands of modafinil, armodafinil and atomoxetine. Who makes each one, the strengths, how they compare with Provigil, Nuvigil and Strattera, and how to buy safely.

If you have looked for modafinil or Strattera online, you have met the Indian names: Modalert, Modvigil, Waklert, Artvigil, Axepta. They are not new or different drugs. Each one contains the same active ingredient as the original brand, made by an Indian drug company and sold on prescription in India’s pharmacies. Online pharmacies that ship abroad stock them widely, which is why they turn up wherever people look for these medicines.

Key points

  • Nothing new inside. A Modalert tablet holds modafinil, a Waklert tablet holds armodafinil and an Axepta tablet holds atomoxetine.
  • Big Indian names such as Sun Pharma, Emcure and Intas make them, and India’s ordinary pharmacies stock them.
  • Familiar strengths: 100 and 200 mg modafinil, 150 mg armodafinil, and atomoxetine from 10 to 60 mg.
  • Your call, your country’s rules. Import rules differ from place to place, and checking them is up to you. See how to use this guide.

Modafinil brands: Modalert, Modvigil, Modaheal

All three contain modafinil, the same ingredient as Provigil, so they work the same way: they keep you awake and alert for most of the day. Modalert from Sun Pharma is the name you will see most often in online pharmacies. Modvigil comes from HAB Pharmaceuticals, and Modaheal from Healing Pharma India.

The usual dose is 200 mg in the morning. That is one Modalert 200, Modvigil 200 or Modaheal 200 tablet, or two of the 100 mg tablets. Everything on our modafinil page applies to these brands too: the uses, the side effects, the rash warning and the effect on the contraceptive pill.

Armodafinil brands: Waklert, Artvigil, Armod

Same story, one molecule over. Armodafinil is the part of modafinil that lasts longest, and Nuvigil was its first brand. Sun Pharma sells it in India as Waklert, HAB Pharmaceuticals as Artvigil, Emcure as Armod. Most people take one 150 mg tablet on waking.

Why pick it over modafinil? Mostly for the afternoon: levels stay higher later in the day. The armodafinil page has the side-by-side numbers.

Atomoxetine brand: Axepta

Strattera’s Indian twin is Axepta, from Intas, in a white carton with purple bands. One difference you will notice: Axepta is a pale yellow tablet, while Strattera is a capsule. Inside is the same atomoxetine, the non-stimulant that builds up over a few weeks. Adults usually start at 40 mg and move to 80 mg, so you may need two strengths at first. Doses, side effects and user stories are on the atomoxetine page.
